MARINA: While in Stockholm, my editor at the Swedish magazine Miss World took me to the taqueria La Neta to get my opinion on how authentic it is. To my surprise La Neta was legit and Mexican owned. Their kitchen is stocked with industrial grade tortilla makers, the counter offers bowls of fresh salsa and a variety of Mexican beer in in the fridge. All of the tacos are made with flour tortillas so everything ends up tasting like a quesadilla, but it’s still delicious. I ate the bisteq and al pastor. Yummy…

MARINA: I wrote a Williamsburg guide for the Swedish magazine Miss World. Of course I had to put La Superior on the map! So the pull quote in Swedish reads, “For a Mexican fix…”

MARINA: Finally met our Swedish contingency! Teresa Sida Norgren has been following M&TC for more than a year and we’ve been delighted to learn that we have young creative mixed Mexicans in Stockholm. Teresa’s brother is part of the band Muñeca Sistem. Don’t be surprised if we develop projects in Stockholm!

MARINA: Check out our favorite Mexicans in Sweden, Muñeca Sistem! They just released their new track “Perdido”. Shouts out to Teresa and her calaca facemasks in the video!

According to Miguel Sida, “The beat is produced by grammy winner Masse Salazar. The beat is a fusion of different dance, caribbean and urban styles. The lyrics however are influenced by the melancholy of the mexican “crying” singers. The result is a futuristic, melancholic and tropical number.” Buy it on iTunes.

MARINA: We recently received this Cure cover from the Swedish Muñeca Sistem. There are Mexicanos alive and creative in Stockholm. Teresa Sida Norgren wrote to us to say “I´m half Mexican and my Mexican father came to Stockholm on a tour with his bands “Bandidos” and “Tequila” in the 70´s, and he met my mother here. I have two brothers and one of them is running a music project called “Muñeca Sistem”. How amazing is this?!
